The Minister of Works, Arch. Mike Onolememe and the Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, on Tuesday flagged off the Adaokere- Ukoni- Amedokhian road in Uromi, Edo State.
Onolememe said the ceremony signals the commencement of the construction of the pre colonial earth road that links Edo-North to Edo-South through the Edo Central Senatorial district.
The minister said the contract which cost about N2 billion was approved by the Federal Executive Council after it had undergone due process in line with the Public Procurement Act.
He said the road when completed will open up and boost socio- economic activities of the towns and villages it traverses and improve the agriculture value chain development of the area.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, said it is gratifying to note that the road will substantially improve the movement of people, goods and services.
He said it is noteworthy that the road will considerably advance the opening up of oil prospecting activities in Uzea area where hydrocarbon deposits were discovered in the 1980s.
